Kestrel is an advertising-funded app. That means data about your use of it is what makes the money we share with you, and you deserve a plain account of exactly what that involves.
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Device and advertising identifiers | Serving ads, measuring whether a view qualified, and detecting fraud |
| Usage data — clips viewed, watch time, taps | Paying you correctly and reporting performance to advertisers |
| Email address | Your account, payout notices and support |
| Payout details | Paying you. Collected at cash out, never at sign up |
| Survey answers (optional) | Sold as aggregate panel data, never attached to your name |
| Purchase receipts (optional) | Unlocking conversion offers. Read-only, retailers you choose |
We do not collect precise location, your contacts, health data, or your browsing outside this app.
Advertising identifiers and view events are shared with the ad networks and measurement partners that fill the feed. Under some privacy laws this counts as a sale or sharing of personal information, and you can opt out at any time in Settings without losing access to the app — though your earnings will be lower, because untargeted inventory pays less. We will always tell you that plainly rather than hide it.
Survey responses leave as aggregate data. Receipt data is used only to confirm a conversion you chose to act on.
We do not sell your email address, and we never pass your name to an advertiser.
Deleting your account removes your profile, survey answers, receipt links and ledger within 30 days. We keep a minimal record of completed payouts where tax or anti-fraud law requires it. Any balance below the payout threshold is forfeited on deletion, so cash out first if you can.
View events are kept for 24 months for advertiser reporting and fraud investigation, then deleted or irreversibly aggregated. Payout records are kept as long as financial law requires.
Kestrel is not for anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. Accounts found to belong to children are closed and deleted.
Data is processed in [jurisdiction] by [legal entity name], and may be handled by ad partners in other countries under standard contractual clauses.
If we change what we collect or who it goes to, we will say so in the app before it takes effect — not quietly in a version note.
